Most family lawyers agree that the divorce law in this country is outdated ,the ground for divorce "irretrievable breakdown " of marriage has not changed since 1973 .If couples want an immediate divorce without waiting for a two year separation they have to use particulars of adultery or unreasonable behaviour .It has long been suggested that divorce ought to  be made a less confrontational process and that parties should be able to separate and then divorce more amicably. This in turn may help couples resolve any financial issues or disputes relating to their children in a more constructive way and without litigation  .We at Freeths support the efforts being made by leading  Judges such as Baroness Hale to bring this issue to the fore and urge the Government to introduce new legislation as a priority .
