Holly Greenhow has recently been awarded £15,480,000 in light of negligent treatment she and her mother received leading up to her birth at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in 2005. As a result of clinical negligence her brain was starved of oxygen. This negligence lead to her development of cerebral palsy and a variety of communication and other disabilities.

Speaking on behalf of the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, Alex Antelme QC explained that Holly’s was a “tragic case”. The award has been made after 12 years of investigation and Holly has been awarded a £6.4million lump sum with the remainder of the award being made via annual payments. The payments have been agreed on a 75% liability basis.

Holly’s family’s representatives have fought to secure this sum to ensure Holly’s needs are met and in the hope that she can live as independently as possible in the future. Speaking after the High Court decision was made, Holly’s mother, Mrs Greenhow has said “No amount of money or apology will ever bring back what we should have had with Holly”.
