Research by QualitySolicitors shows that over a half of married couples in the North West admit they have been giving their marriage ‘one last go’ over Christmas and New Year.
The study also highlighted top ‘divorce drivers’ for the area, most likely to tip already strained marriages over the edge, leading couples to the divorce courts in January.
- Nine per cent of married couples in the North West expected 2014 to be their last Christmas together
- Festive socialising was thought to be the thing most likely to drive people to divorce courts - 44 per cent said they expected it to contribute toward their decision whether to seek a divorce.
- Family finances are the second biggest divorce driver with 40 per cent of couples saying it will contribute to their decision as to whether to divorce
- 36 per cent expected their in-laws to be a source of conflict.
