This case makes for some interesting reading about the importance of financial disclosure. But I always advise my clients they should never be tempted to "hack" into their spouse's email accounts or open their post as this can potentially lead to a criminal conviction.
A wealthy City banker has been accused of hacking into his ex-wife's email account during a bitter £1.2m divorce battle involving a string of properties in France and Britain. Daniel Arbili, 43, and wife Catriona, 44, fought over control of a number of valuable assets, including French villas, £50,000 worth of luxury watches, an Aston Martin, and the family's grade-II listed home rural Essex. The couple’s assets had been divided equally in 2013, but Mr Arbili, the former £120,000-a-year head of equity derivatives at the brokers JB Drax, is now trying to have the case re-opened on appeal. He claims there is new evidence to suggest she is richer than either he or the divorce court originally thought. However she has now claimed that he only obtained the emails by hacking into her account.
