APIL are (quite rightly in our opinion) highlighting the apparent contradiction arising from the Chancellor's announcement that insurance premium tax will rise again. It was only 4 months ago that Mr Osborne was so concerned about the rising costs of motor insurance that he proposed the right to claim compensation should be scrapped for those suffering from whiplash thereby allowing insurance companies to pass on savings to consumers through lower premiums. Many commentators were dubious that such savings would ever be enjoyed by insurance consumers but this seems even less likely now. Make your mind up Mr Chancellor!
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has accused Chancellor George Osborne of hypocrisy over his reported plan to increase the insurance premium tax in today’s Budget.
