The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991, s. 3(1) came into force on 1st July 2016.
This offence made provisions for the owner or person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control in any place in (whether or not a public place) where death is caused; the maximum sentence is 14 years’ custody.
Jailing them, judge Mrs Justice Carr told the pair Molly-Mae was savagely attacked by the pit bull in "a tragic and totally avoidable incident".
