Pension provider Aegon has been heavily criticised by the Financial Ombudsman Service for a series of errors which resulted in a woman receiving all of her husband's pension on their divorce, when she was only supposed to have half of it transferred to her. By the time Aegon had made her aware of the overpayment, she had already spent £8,000 more from funds withdrawn from the pension than she should have been entitled to receive in the first place.

When sharing pensions on divorce, it is important to get legal and financial advice, and to consult your professional advisers straight away if you suspect that there may be any problems.
