The long awaited Mills judgment was delivered yesterday. This is a long running case about spousal maintenance. The husband wanted maintenance reduced, the wife wanted it increased. The wife wanted the payments increased as a result of some bad financial investments she had made. In an earlier judgment the ex-wife’s payments were increased, the husband appealed that decision. The Supreme Court have now decided that the husband’s payments should reduce to their original level because he should not have to suffer the financial consequences of his ex-wife’s bad financial decisions.
