What happens at counselling and who decides what is talked about?
What happens at counselling? A question I am often asked by clients, as there is understandable trepidation about speaking to somebody about the difficulties you may be experiencing as a result of separation and divorce. I met with John Henry Carter, a Psychodynamic counsellor and asked him that very question. I attach a link to the video where we discussed what happens at counselling and who decides what is talked about. I have seen first-hand, as have my colleagues in the Freeths Family Law Team how counselling can help people who are dealing with relationship breakdown. Counselling provides a non-judgmental environment with client led sessions where boundaries are set by you and the counsellor where appropriate. https://youtu.be/XKQuZYPxBAw
I hope you find the video helpful. John Henry’s details can be found at https://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/therapist/john-henry-carter/
If you would like to discuss any issues following divorce and separation, please do not hesitate to contact myself or a member of the family team.
